How to Design a Pink Bedroom for Adults

//

Pink has often been thought of as a color for girls. Think about babies; blue is for boys, and pink is for girls. But where does that leave adult women who want to use the color pink in their bedrooms? Read on for the answer…

Adult women can absolutely use pink in their bedroom designs. There are several ways to accomplish this, but first we need to understand bedroom design.

Your bedroom is the last room you see at night, and the first room you see in the morning. It should be a place that is warm, inviting, and relaxing. A bedroom should be an oasis in which its inhabitants can unwind and recharge after a long day. Your bedroom should also be a reflection of you. Your personality should be seen throughout your bedroom in your decor. You don’t want your bedroom to look like a hotel; the room should be designed specifically for you and your tastes. Since you are an adult, your tastes are probably more mature now than they were when you were a little girl, so creating a pink bedroom that reflects your maturity is the ideal.

Choosing a Shade of Pink

The first order of business is choosing the right shade of pink for your bedroom. Barbie pink is probably not the best choice when you are going for a mature look, so let’s veto that straightaway. Light and pale pinks are ideal because they can be used as a neutral color. In other words, light pink can be paired right alongside white or beige without being conspicuous or overbearing. You could paint an entire room this shade without it looking too immature. Dusty pinks also go very well with neutrals, and therefore are ideal for adult bedroom design. Dusty colorsĀ  are muted and almost melancholy compared to their brighter sisters.

Once you have decided on a shade of pink, you need to decide how you will incorporate that shade into your bedroom.

Incorporating Pink into Your Decor

There are several ways to incorporate pink into your bedroom decor. You could paint an accent wall your desired shade of pink. If you decide to do this, consider painting the wall against which your bed sits.

Another option is pink furniture. An elegant pink armchair, chaise lounge, or couch is a great way to incorporate your shade while maintaining a mature feel in your bedroom.

Accents are also ideal; a pink table lamp, area rug, throw pillow, or framed wall art are all wonderful finishing touches that every bedroom needs.

Last but not least, bedding is very important. Not only should the feel of your bedding be suitable for your needs, but the look should also be exactly what you desire. For a mature touch, don’t use bedding in your shade. Instead, go for neutral bedding and use a pink throw blanket or pillow shams. It is very easy to find neutral bedding sets, but it may be a big harder to find bedding in the exact shade of pink you desire. Pink bedding accents are a good fix for this problem.

Whatever shade you choose, and however you choose to incorporate that shade into your bedroom, just remember that your room is your private space and it should reflect you!
